About Us
Inter-County Student Health Plan is a product of Inter-County Hospitalization Plan, Inc., and Inter-County Health Plan, Inc. (Inter-County), which were founded in 1937. For more than 70 years, we have been proud to serve businesses, organizations, universities, and colleges throughout Pennsylvania and to extend coverage to their plan members nationwide.
Inter-County was the first non-profit hospitalization plan in the Delaware Valley. We began as a department within a suburban-Philadelphia hospital to help people pay unexpected hospital bills. Today, Inter-County is a leading Pennsylvania group health care coverage carrier, offering both hospitalization and medical/surgical coverage.
Despite Inter-County’s growth from our modest beginnings to a substantial insurer, we hold fast to our original mission as a non-profit health insurer. We persist in our belief that better is simply not good enough, and we attribute our decades of success to the high expectations of our customers.
